Infrastructure Improvements & Akamina Hiker Shuttle
Parks Canada is improving facilities for our visitors through an investment of $3 billion over five years. When visiting Waterton Lakes National Park, you may encounter construction zones or reduced services while this necessary work is being done. To avoid inconvenience, please consult www.parkscanada.gc.ca/waterton-construction for current information and suggestions for what to see and do. Thank you for your patience during this important work.
Akamina Hiker Shuttle
Book a ride on the free hiker shuttle, provided by Parks Canada, to access trails along the Akamina Parkway. The shuttle will run from June 16 to September 18, 2016.
Hikers can access the following trailheads:
· Crandell Lake
· Lineham Falls
· Akamina Pass
· Summit Lake and Carthew-Alderson
Reservations are highly recommended. For reservations, schedules, maps and more information go to www.akaminahikershuttle.com or the self-serve system at Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters in the Waterton village. Last minute ‘walk-ons,’ are permitted, at the Tamarack pick-up location only, if spaces are available.
Cameron Lake is closed while Parks Canada replaces all of the day use facilities. The Akamina Hiker Shuttle is not intended to be a free public transportation or sightseeing service; it provides hiker access only to trailheads along the Akamina Parkway. All users must get off the shuttle at a designated trailhead and return on the shuttle at their designated pickup time. This service cannot accommodate cyclists or pets.
